Swimming

This morning I got up at 6:30am (yes, on a Friday) to hit the pool. I swam for 11 years before coming to college. In the past 5.5 years I've probably only gone to the pool to legitimately swim a handful of times. Recently I thought that I should change this, especially because I loved swimming for so long...and also because running is boring to me. It felt AWESOME to be back in the water. I had high hopes for my first workout, but I forgot how hard swimming is. Like long-distance running, endurance is required. However, if you get tired halfway through your run, you can stop! With swimming, you can't just stop midway down the pool...you'd still have to tread water. This is my estimated workout:

200 meters breast/free mixed warm-up
5x25 meters breast/free sprints
300 meters breast/free mixed with 1x25 butterfly
50 meters breast cool-down

I stopped early because my goggle strap broke and water flooded into my eyes...somehow my contacts managed to stay in:)

Today will be filled with applications & psyc GRE studying. Fun times! I made some almond butter/banana oatmeal this morning to get me started. I used the Silk brand of the Vanilla Almond Milk (the sweetened kind). I think this is good, but it's a little too sweet to use in sweetened cereal or oatmeal that is already sweetened with banana. Nevertheless, it was pretty good. I was a little heavy-handed with the almond butter this morning :)

Banana/Nut Butter Oatmeal
-1/3 cup instant oatmeal
-1 mashed banana
-Enough milk (soy, almond, or regs) to make it the consistency you like
-1 TB nut butter
